Professional background:
Painter & Sculptor born in 1965, Michaël Thomazo studied drawing at the school of Beaux- Arts in Lorient and Rennes in Brittany. He worked as a special effects designer for the cinema at "Animatronic G".
For the past 15 years, he has devoted himself to sculpture, drawing and painting in his studio in Brittany, on the edge of the mythical forest of Brocéliande.
His work is exhibited in France and abroad.
He is currently working on a monumental project of sculptures on the theme of the "New Knights of Broceliande".
Artistic approach:
Michaël Thomazo's creation is presented as a prism charged with reconciling opposites. Between yesterday and tomorrow, the artist proposes his vision of the world which, in turn, both disturbs and attracts the eye. The eye then enters a strange and uchronic universe where there is a permanent back and forth between the figurative and the fantastic.
The atmosphere thus created allows us to suggest rather than show or describe. For Michaël Thomazo, Art is an everyday thing, which implies that the artist is not the spokesman of any Muse but a curious worker in the service of strangeness and paradox.
Although his paintings and sculptures bear the mark of the classical training he acquired at the Beaux-Arts, we are invited to go beyond appearances because we have never been so far away from a world that is, strangely enough, so close to our own.
