Professional background:
Adam Widełka is the winner of the Grand Prix of the 3rd Polish Pastel Biennale in Nowy Sącz. His artworks are presented at the largest exhibitions promoting the trends in which he creates. They appear periodically during the series of Magical Dreams exhibitions organized by the Bator Art Gallery from Szczyrk. Adam Widełka's pastels also appeared during the exhibition "In Search of Beauty" at the Museum of Jacek Malczewski in Radom, where the works of 26 leading Polish artists from the trend of realism, surrealism and magical realism were collected. In 2021, together with his wife Dorota and her artistic jewelery (as the DADAM duo). They also had a joint exhibition at the CKiS Wieża Ciśnień Gallery in Konin. In the same year, the Cavaletto Art Gallery in Karpacz organized an individual exhibition of Adam Widełka's pastels and their reproductions published by the "Lux Artis" Art Publishing House.
Artistic approach:
His overall work is associated with magical realism, hyperrealism, surrealism and fantasy painting. The artist's works can also be included in the trend of metaphorical painting, due to the introduction of characteristic motifs into the portraits, which are an inseparable feature of his style, often being an ironic element against the background of the statuesque beauty of the models.
The creator uses an original color technique that blurs the lines in favor of soft lights penetrating the patch. The common denominator of his works are idealized women, and the introduction of illusory and allusive metaphors is emphasized by the titles of the paintings. Another characteristic feature of his work is the creation of three-dimensional elements in the form of paper tears, folds or folds. Adam Widełka said about this artistic procedure: “I love being an illusionist who surprises the recipient with the three-dimensional effects of my pastels. In almost all of my works there are characteristic tears, folds and creases in the paper. I am happy as a child when the viewer lets himself be caught trying to straighten, sometimes even through the glass, a bent cardboard.
For some time, these tears and folds of paper have been partly replaced by three-dimensional details of artistic jewelry by Dorota Mielcarek-Widełka, a stained-glass artist and author of artistic jewelry in Konin, privately Adam's wife. Together they form the DADAM duo, complementing each other perfectly both in private life and in the artistic field.
Adam Widełka creates his pastels on chipboards or specially prepared cardboards. Our own technique of special priming of these boards and cardboards guarantees the durability of the works for hundreds of years, his pastels stored indoors will not lose their color properties and will please the eye of subsequent generations of Adam Widełka's art recipients.
An extremely effective complement to the artist's works is their frames made by a master in this field, Dariusz Hrybik and employees of his company Almat Art from Katowice.
The artist also paints with pastels on internal and external plasters. Outdoor images are created on fiber cement boards using a unique own technique based on the Keima technique, resistant to weather conditions. He fixes the drawings with silicate chalk with potassium water glass on cement boards. In this field, he is the only specialist in Poland.
